Monferrato

It is a province of enchanting landscapes, where gently rolling vine-covered hills harmoniously blend with valleys, plains, rivers, lakes, and forests, creating a natural mosaic of great beauty. The balance between soil, climate, and tradition, combined with centuries of winemaking expertise, makes the Asti Monferrato a prime land for the production of exclusive wines with international appeal.

geological

Terroir

The Asti Monferrato stands out for its unique geological formation, characterized by calcareous soils rich in minerals, which give wines depth and aromatic complexity. This terroir is the result of a long geological evolution, where tectonic uplift and erosion have shaped the landscape over millions of years.

Marine

Sediments

In ancient times, Monferrato was submerged by a prehistoric sea, whose retreat left behind fossil shell deposits and marine sediments. These elements enriched the soil with valuable minerals, creating an ideal habitat for viticulture. The hills, rising between 200 and 600 meters above sea level, benefit from a perfect microclimate, further enhanced by the presence of wooded areas, where the temperature variations between day and night promote optimal grape ripening.

Historical red wines

Traditions

The short distance from the sea ensures a continental climate with hot summers and cool winters, conditions that enhance the character of native grape varieties. Among these, Barbera stands out as the symbolic grape of Monferrato, which in its modern expressions is distinguished by elegance and versatility. In stainless steel aging, it showcases freshness and harmonious acidity, while in the Superiore and Nizza versions, it asserts itself with a structured body, elegance, and longevity, winning over a rapidly growing market. Nebbiolo is also gaining a prominent role in Monferrato, standing out for its elegant tannins and winning over modern palates. Furthermore, Monferrato is rich in ancient, niche grape varieties that are increasingly successful in foreign markets thanks to their uniqueness and authenticity.

indigenous grape varieties

Full - bodied

When it comes to white wines, Monferrato boasts a long tradition with Cortese. This grape variety is demonstrating new potential through modern winemaking techniques, which enhance its characteristic fruity and citrus aromas, minerality, versatility, and structure. In addition to Cortese, the region is home to many other native and international grape varieties, which, thanks to this exceptional terroir, express themselves with great elegance and reach the highest levels of winemaking excellence.
